In 2020, Ruka White's evocative movement direction earned him a coveted Elliott Norton Award nomination for his bold reimagining of Choir Boy. White has shared the spotlight with icons such as Missy Elliott, Maya Angelou, and CeCe Winans, embodying versatility and power in every step.
As a former member of groundbreaking companies like the Limon Dance Company, Philadanco, Armitage Gone!, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and Ballethnic, White weaves rich narratives through kinetic storytelling. His choreographic works have left an indelible mark on Philadanco II, Ballet RI, DCDC II, Philadelphia Dance Theatre, and universities across the country.
On stage, he has conjured magic in productions like Queens of the Nile, Raisin in the Sun, and Just 33, always blurring the lines between performer and audience, tradition and innovation.
Currently, White channels his expertise as the Director of Commercial Dance Intensive and as an Associate Professor of Dance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he mentors the next generation of boundary-pushing artists.
Prepare to enter a world where movement is immersive, and every performance is an invitation to step deeper into the story.
